Welcome to FosterCareCommunity.com… Currently in Santa Barbara there are over 600 foster youth that need a home. Even if you are not able to foster a child, there are wonderful ways to support the families, agencies and programs that are fostering our youth. Raise money, consider making a meal for a foster family, adopt a foster family for the holidays, tutor a foster child, become a ‘respite” care provider and babysit for a foster family to give them time off. Host a shower for a new foster family to help stock their home with all the things they need for the child.

ASSISTANCE LEAGUE OF SANTA BARBARA
- ABOUT: Assistance League of Santa Barbara is a nonprofit all-volunteer organization that develops and implements philanthropic programs to benefit children and adults in Santa Barbara County.
- RESOURCES:
Bear H.U.G.S: Huggy Bears have been distributed for the purpose of comforting children and adults in severe trauma situations.
Family Learning Program: Provides tutoring, mentoring and support to participating children and their families.
Fostering Friends: Helps emancipating(ed) foster teens make the transition from foster care to independent living by partnering with local agencies to provide teens with clothing for school and work.
Operation School Bell: Children are identified by the area schools administration and provided with clothing, books, backpacks and health kits.
Santa Barbara Smiles: Focuses on dental health education for low-income children and adults in Santa Barbara and provides dental hygiene kits and educational activity booklets to children and adults who attend the Eastside Family Dental Clinic.

- ABOUT:Our mission is to prevent, assess, and treat child abuse by providing comprehensive, culturally competent, services for children, families and adults CALM offers a safe, non-judgmental, caring and strength-based environment to heal and increase family well being
- RESOURCES:Helping Others in Parenting Environments (HOPE) was developed in recognition of the trauma experienced by children who enter the foster care system. HOPE is an array of intensive in-home services available to children and parents in foster home and extended family home placements. The HOPE program combines skill-based intervention with maximum flexibility so that services are available to families and foster homes according to their unique needs.

CASA PACIFICA
- ABOUT:Mission is To provide hope and help for abused, neglected or at-risk children and their families.Casa Pacifica serves abused, neglected and severely emotionally disturbed children and adolescents from the Tri-County areas of Southern California through an array of supportive and treatment programs.
- RESOURCES:Therapeutic Behavioral Services: Casa Pacifica is the only TBS provider in Santa Barbara. TBS is a short-term, intensive, supplemental mental health service designed to assist children in either preserving a current placement when they are in jeopardy of moving to a higher level of care or helping them move back home and into their community. TBS counselors spend most of their time implementing behavioral interventions with the child and working with parents and caregivers to use effectively behavioral plans.
BED-BASIS SERVICES
Crisis Care Program:Casa Pacifica provides temporary shelter for children aged birth through five, 6-12, 13-17 who are removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect or abandonment. Temporary, short-term placement for children entering the child welfare system or who are in foster care but have had an unsuccessful foster home or group home placement. Children receive immediate medical attention and educational and social emotional assessments intended to assist Child Protective Services and the dependency court judge in making the best decisions possible as they plan for the child’s future.
Residential Treatment Program:Children ages 11 through 17 who have proven too difficult for a group home or foster home setting require intensive residential treatment for an extended period of time. Each child/youth in this special program has an individualized treatment plan specifically tailored to his/her needs. Based on cognitive/ behavioral principles, this highly structured experiential program is designed to teach children cognitive strategies and social skills that will enable them to live effective and fulfilling lives at home and in the community.
EDUCATIONAL SERVICES:Non-public Special Education School: The Casa Pacifica nonpublic school focuses on a therapeutic and relationship building approach to help students progress and if appropriate return to a less restrictive environment as quickly as possible - VIEW CONTACT INFORMATION
CHILD WELFARE SERVICES, SANTA BARBARA COUNTY
- ABOUT:Train licensed foster parent & licenses adoptive parents in the County of Santa Barbara.
- RESOURCES:Child Welfare Services offers an Orientation and Classes for persons interested in becoming a licensed foster parent and or adoptive parent. Becoming a licensed foster parent/ adoptive parent legally allows you to care for children in your home. Financial assistance is available to help offset the cost of parenting.

THE CHILDREN’S PROJECT
- ABOUT: A non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of foster teens.
- RESOURCES: The Childrens Project is currently in the development stages of creating a residential charter school that will enable 120 7th-12th grade foster youth to live with passionate, dedicated foster parents and alongside teachers, foster grandparents and staff, creating permanent relationships with caring adults.

CYC – CALIFORNIA YOUTH CONNECTION
- ABOUT: CYC is a non-profit organization that was created and lead by current and emancipated foster youth. There are over 30 CYC chapters state wide that gives foster youth age 14-24 an opportunity to learn leadership skills, empowerment, and a sense of unity. - ABOUT:This special club is for former Foster Youth and other students without parental support. There are many students in the situation and currently only 1% of foster youth ever graduate from college. This club was created to help change that. Guardian Scholars brings a group of young adults together to support one another to succeed both in college and life. If you were in the Foster Care system, or just on your own at a young age…students without family support this club could be for you.

- ABOUT:Foster Youth Services (FYS)/Group Home-Juvenile Detention — Facilities Tutoring and Transition Programs…Transitional Youth Services (TYS) serves the educational needs of students who are homeless or in foster care, throughout Santa Barbara County. The overriding mission of TYS is to do whatever it takes to help remove the barriers to homeless and foster care students accessing and achieving in their education.
- RESOURCES:TYS supplementary educational services in the form of after-school tutoring seek to remediate educational deficits that are often the result of missed school and frequent moves. Educational case management services help to address some of the broader challenges that impede students learning and achievement. YOUTH AND FAMILY SERVICES YMCA
- ABOUT:The Youth and Family Services branch is the social service arm of the Channel Islands YMCA and reaches into many sectors of the Santa Barbara, Goleta and Isla Vista community providing comprehensive services to the children, youth, young adults and their families.

Noahs Anchorage Youth Crisis Shelter: 8 bed licensed group home that provides temporary foster care as well as shelter for runaway and homeless youth. The Shelter is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
My Home: A collaborative program with the Santa Barbara Housing Authority that provides transitional housing and on-site case management, as well as life skills, employment, education and counseling services for emancipated foster youth ages 18-21.
Support and Outreach Services: S.O.S. teams reach out to youth living on the streets, offering basic needs assistance, counseling and case management.
