The Santa Barbara Foresters is a nonprofit that puts on a summer college baseball team that competes in the California Collegiate League and the National Baseball Congress World Series. The Foresters are proud to have won five NBC championships in since 2006, making them Americas No. 1 summer-ball organization. Fans of all ages attend the games in June and July at UCSBs Caesar Uyesaka Stadium. Numerous family and child-friendly events are held at the games and at other locations, including Foresters Summer Camps. The Foresters also run the Hugs for Cubs program to support childhood cancer patients and their families.
The Foresters put on summer camps that feature the players from the team as coaches and counselors. More than 35 former Foresters have made it to the Major Leagues, so local kids might just be learning baseball from someone theyll watch on TV some day. The camps are fun, filled with games, and include baseball skills instruction from some of Americas best young ballplayers. Hugs for Cubs events each summer include bowling nights, trips to MLB games, surf lessons, and hospital visits.
