Midland School is located on a 2,860-acre working ranch and organic farm in the scenic Santa Ynez Valley in Northern Santa Barbara County. Midland combines rigorous academics with intensive immersion in the environment. The school is committed to providing an education that nurtures authentic student leadership, embraces simplicity, inspires self-reliance and is grounded in environmental stewardship.
Midland offers individual attention, exceptional college placement, small classes and strong faculty-student relationships. Through both classroom and experiential curriculum, sustainability projects, leadership and job programs, and everyday conversation, Midland students learn that they can make a difference in their communities as informed global citizens. In addition, Midland offers competitive athletics, an equestrian program, countless extracurricular clubs, an outdoor leadership program, a variety of arts and metals classes, and a guest speaker program.
Midland graduates are currently attending some of the most selective colleges in the country, including Yale, Princeton, UCLA, USC, Brown, Stanford, Whitman, Reed, Colorado College, Occidental and Swarthmore. Midland currently enrolls 90 students and employs 20 teachers, all of whom live on campus.
